it snowed. and there was much rejoicing
February 13, 2012
Ian has a “is it a huge line?” test, and a “did it snow two feet?” test. Today didn’t pass for him, so he went to school.
Holden, however, is less stringent, and so we went up Little Cottonwood Canyon to enjoy the new foot of snow we (finally) got. South facing Flagstaff is the perfect line for this kind of morning. 50 yards from car to steep skinning, straight up the ridge, and right back down, with fun features and safe skiing.
Afterward we ate Robin’s minstrels.

I bet Holden is sitting in science class right now, replaying that line in his head.

And we feasted on orangutans, and minstrels…\

Was that a Dynafit binding I just saw? Hopefully we won’t have to hear “sorry, my binding is being held together with duct tape and bailing wire” from you anymore.

yes, dynafit. so far no bailing wire.

Blue, Orange and Red look good on you. Honeycomb was pretty nice today too. Sorry I couldn’t make the early run.

Seeing Holden execute a kick turn had to have been a proud moment.

there is nothing quite as cool as a well-executed kick-turn.
i’m old, but i prefer it to a well-executed 360.
