don’t block the box

February 19, 2010

I spent the week in D.C. for work, and Kim got to come with me.

I like D.C. Great restaurants. Lots of history. Great museums.

And this:

don't block the box

I don’t even have a joke here.

(Well, that’s not true, but Kim is currently running about 10,000 volts of electricity through my body, preventing the actual expression of jokes. Insert your own joke here if you can–Ha! Managed to get one in. HA! TWO! Nnnnngngnsksndfnskdnfdnnnanaahhhhhh.)

Are you not supposed to block the box (whatever that may be)? But it’s crossed out, so are you supposed to block the box? I know DC is bi-polar but can’t they even figure out which way signs are supposed to go? I suppose if you aren’t for blocking the box, you must be against it! Hilarious!

If they have a Critical Mass event at this place, will their designated traffic control people be called “Box Corkers”?

Must be part of some abstinence campaign in D.C. Just the opposite here in my SLC neighborhood where we had “Speed Hump” painted by the County across some roads just before the speed bumps for a few weeks.

    • Jot Says:

I’ve always been intimidated by the “Speed Hump” signs. Is that a requirement when you move into the neighborhood? How fast? Do you have to leave town if you don’t?

Which reminds me of the words of the great 21st philosopher Larry Dues:

“If you want harder and faster, I can do that. If you want deeper, we’d better be talking about philosophy.”

This (somehow) seems appropriate to this thread:

That sign probably only cost 400 million dollars. And as has been pointed out, it’s a double negative. Better spend more money on education.

  9. Rick Says:

@keith – sorry i don’t have a picture, but there is a road called Penile on the outskirts of Louisville,KY. Probably too expensive to keep replacing the signs.
