itchy socks

August 15, 2011

So I’m sitting in a meeting (a FOUR HOUR meeting that I’m still actually in) this morning, and suddenly my ankle itches.

I reach down to scratch it, and, well, check it out:

Yup, those are Pearl Izumi cycling socks. I’m pretty sure it’s been a month since I’ve worn them. And I’m also pretty sure they’ve been through the wash at least once since then.

I guess it doesn’t really speak well of my powers of observation that I didn’t notice them until just now.

But it really doesn’t say much for my washing machine.

After I crashed my bike at high speed into a large cholla, I was picking cactus spines out of my clothes for weeks, despite multiple trips through the washer.

That’s why they call them burrs. You have to use a file to get them off. No washer made could probably get those off. I’m still amazed you got the socks on without noticing.

just turn your sock inside out. glad i could help.

Be glad they didn’t attach to some other article clothing while in the washer that could end up closer to some areas of softer body tissue. Ha Ha.

Are you sure those aren’t ticks? They look a lot like ticks. Blood sucking Lyme Disease carrying killer ticks. The worst kind. You can’t be too careful, you know?
